I am from northeast Mississippi, a man in my seventies with more life behind me than most people would want to claim. Over those years, I have taken more than one road when it came to earning a living.I have worked successfully in sales, selling both tangible and intangible products. I have been a carpenter, owned and operated a small home remodeling and repair business, and done finish carpentry and interior woodwork in new homes.

For roughly the last 15 years, much of what I have built has been online.

I began building websites long before I ever thought of myself as someone who would spend this much time writing and publishing on the internet. I have owned and worked on a number of websites over the years, learning most of what I know by doing it myself, making mistakes, fixing them, and starting over when necessary.

Today, most of my online work is Christian-based. I build and publish websites centered on Bible study and the Christian faith, and I also help other Christians understand how to build useful websites of their own.

My Christian life has not followed a straight line. I gave my life to Christ when I was twenty years old, but for many years I lived as an on-again, off-again Christian. I knew I was saved, but knowing how to live consistently by faith was another matter entirely. Eventually, failures in my own life contributed to the loss of my family, from whom I remain estranged today.

That period changed the direction of my life. I began searching Scripture much more seriously for answers about what it actually means to live the Christian life. Over time, that study became much more than something I did for myself. It became something I wanted to write about and share with other people.

I do not claim to have everything figured out. I am still learning, still studying, still building, and still changing. But at this stage of my life, much of my time is spent doing two things I have come to care deeply about: helping people understand the Bible and helping Christians use the internet to put worthwhile things into the world.

Building Websites and Online Projects

For about 15 years, I have been building and managing websites for myself and for different projects. Most of what I know came from learning by doing—setting sites up, changing them, making mistakes, fixing them, and figuring out what actually works. Today, much of that work is centered on Christian websites, both the sites I publish myself and the help I give other Christians who want to build something useful online.

Christian Writing and Bible Study

Even though I had called myself a Christian for many years, there was very little in my life that reflected what I claimed to believe. Looking back, I believe God never forgot that I had given my life to Jesus many years before, even through the long years when I was not living as though that commitment truly mattered.

After my family left, I was faced with a choice. I could keep going as the same man I had always been, or I could begin the slow and continuing process of developing a real heart for Jesus Christ and learning, little by little, what it means to die to self.

My writing and the Christian websites I build today grow out of that daily commitment. The more I study Scripture, the more I want to know my Heavenly Father, understand His Word, and become more like the man God intends me to be in everyday life. That is what drives much of what I write and publish today.

A Little More About Mike Mahaffey

I live in northeast Mississippi and have spent most of my life learning things the practical way—by doing them. That has been true in sales, carpentry, small business, website building, and especially in my Christian life.

I am still estranged from my family, and I do not try to hide that part of my story. It is painful, but it also became one of the events that forced me to take a much harder look at the man I had been and the man I wanted to become.

These days, I live a much quieter life. I spend a great deal of my time studying the Bible, writing, working on websites, and trying to keep growing in my relationship with Jesus Christ. I do not consider myself finished or to have arrived anywhere spiritually. I simply want the direction of my life now to be toward becoming a more Godly man than I was yesterday.
